As you may know, the solar eclipse is happening this weekend—a perfect time for stargazing as the stars make their grand return. In one of my books, Carmin Will—a lecturer and astronomer living in Los Angeles—meets Detective Charlène Wright in Silver Lake. Back in the 80s, he spent some time in Chile, where he visited an observatory. Indeed, almost every book I’ve written contains a hint of the next one.

Documentaries : how to enlight a topic ?
June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, and this event is celebrated internationally. This week, after work, I watched a remarkable and very moving documentary at the public library : “Little Girl.” As you may know, I write fiction, which doesn’t mean I’m not interested in people’s lives or what challenges society. This documentary is a portrait of a child whose wish, from the age of four, is to be considered a girl, even though she was born in a boy’s body. She faces obstacles but is very supported by those around her. This portrait, almost like a biography, makes us think and sheds light on gender dysphoria from a child’s perspective, a subject more often discussed by adults. The documentary doesn’t follow a series of shots; it’s more of a chronological narrative with key moments and an evolution toward a less conflicted situation. This documentary is a true story, and the film lasts just over an hour.
Freedom for press
How can we not think about press freedom today? may 3rd has been proclaimed by the UN as World Press Freedom Day to celebrate: the fundamental principles of press freedom, to assess press freedom around the world, to defend media independence, and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Listening to podcasts, reading newspapers, and staying informed through other formats via free and independent media are essential for maintaining our critical thinking skills. Long life for freedom !

Spring of poets 2026
For the Spring of Poets and World Poetry Day, escape for a few moments with a poem.
You can also read in your garden after visiting your public library or bookstore to extend this pleasant moment 🙂
Afterwards:
This afternoon, I read an article from the feminist revolutions journal *La Déferlante* to a young man. The article recounts the exile and oppression experienced by Bushra Alzoubi and how she returned to Syria to visit her sister, from whom she had lost contact. This article, along with photos, is in issue 21, page 26, February.
